Desirée penned a beautiful piece on social media about Shea Radiance and the #1000Women Project:
"This here is me, you see me overdressed on a private tennis court in bethesda maryland. what YOU don’t see is the @shearadiance shea butter that covers my skin. what WE don’t see are the harmful, sometimes deadly, working conditions women shea producers face when producing OUR shea butter. what WE know are the harmful effects of smoke inhalation cause cancer, emphysema, asthma, and cataracts while using inefficient cookstoves for daily cooking and shea butter production. and because we know more than we ever have- it’s our duty to do better. join me in supporting the @1kwomenproject - in partnership with @USAID, @SheaOrigin, and the @GlobalSheaAlliance- the #CleanCookstoveProject will raise $100,000 over the next three years to eradicate these risks among 1000 women in #OyoState#Nigeria, where @shearadiance directly sources the raw shea butter loved and used in all of their products."
