Ayesha El-Amin and sister Kemet were born and raised in Los Angeles, California. They learned the craft of baking from their maternal grandmother, Phillis Collier. She was affectionately known as Aunt Phillis (pronounced “ain’t” Phillis). Inheriting their grandmother’s love for baking, they created artisan desserts by infusing creativity and fresh ingredients with a California flair into tried and true traditional Southern recipes. The sisters ended up making the east coast their home via education; Kemet attended Howard University and Ayesha studied at Hofstra University Law School.
Ain't Phillis Sweets will be creating yummy deserts for the Clean Cookstove Project Launch this weekend.
